This course is designed for students seeking to enhance their laboratory skills and deepen their understanding of chemistry, whether for a future Chemistry Matura or academic studies in medicine or other scientific fields. Emphasizing safety and precision, students will perform advanced experiments including titration, crude oil distillation, and chromatography. They will explore solubility principles, stoichiometric relations, and the functionality of batteries, as well as analyze emission spectra.
Through hands-on practice and guided lab report writing, students will develop critical skills essential for academic success and gain insight into real-world applications of chemistry.
Learning objectives:
1. Perform advanced laboratory experiments such as titration, crude oil distillation, and chromatography with precision and safety.
2. Analyze and interpret experimental data, including stoichiometric relationships and solubility of polar and nonpolar compounds.
3. Understand the principles behind emission spectra and battery function.
4. Write detailed and accurate lab reports documenting experimental methods, results, and conclusions.
Forms of assessment:
Open book revision.
A short talk on a chemistry related topic.
Ongoing assessment based on active participation, experiment execution, and lab reports.
