Beschreibung

The brain is a fascinating organ. What is the basis of our thinking, our emotions, our desires and our behaviour? What are the structural and functional units of our brain and how are these linked? What can we learn from brain pathology? In Neuroscience you will discuss these and other sense-related questions.

In Neuroscience you will also study the physiological aspects of seeing and hearing, two very important senses for communication. You will look at how the biological design of our eyes and ears relate to colour, brightness, loudness and pitch.

We also plan excursions and/or visits where you will be able to experience image-producing technologies such as EEGs and see brainwaves for yourselves.

Learning objectives:
After this course students can…
• describe the structural and functional units of the brain and explain how they contribute to thinking, emotions, desires, and behavior
• analyze how studying brain disorders provides insights into normal brain function
• identify and describe the use of neuroscientific tools for studying the brain and sensory systems.
• connect the biological structures of the eyes and ears to the perception of visual and auditory information.
