What can TV shows teach us about right and wrong, or about making tough choices? In this course, we will explore the world of “Avatar – The Last Airbender” and uncover its ethical content. From the main character’s struggle with violence and pacifism, to wise uncles who teach us valuable life lessons, this show is more than just entertainment – it is a masterclass in ethics!
Together, we will dive into ethical ideas like virtue ethics, war and violence, and ethical leadership while analyzing how the characters and their decisions reflect these big concepts. We will watch selected episodes, have thought-provoking discussions and learn about how TV shows can be more than just entertainment.
Knowing the series is not a requirement for this class and the class will not be easier or harder for those that do or don’t know it.
