Beschreibung

In our fast-moving times, it is becoming more and more a key competence to make decisions under great uncertainty: while small decisions have only minor consequences, are easy to correct and should be made with as little time and energy as possible, big decisions, on the other hand, have far-reaching consequences and require careful analysis, a sounding out of options and a well-founded assessment of possible consequences. After all, our decision-making is constantly influenced by external factors, emotions, and our internal cognitive biases. It is therefore not surprising that especially young people are often overwhelmed to make clear decisions.

This course was developed in cooperation between GIBS and TU Graz. It is based on scientific research, practical insights and pedagogical experience. We want to show that decision making is based on cognitive principles and is a skill that can be learned. We would like to present interested students with a step-by-step guide on how to help their students make better decisions. To do this, it is first necessary to understand the psychology of decision-making and to know the steps of a decision-making process. Then, we will present proven models, strategies and tools to help students formulate their own values, collect relevant data for decision-making situations and illustrate possible consequences and impacts of decisions. Finally, we would like to show ways how students can avoid decision traps.
